For many years, the site of Charles' grave was unknown as it had no headstone and the above grave marker was installed in the cemetery by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to indicate that Charles was buried here. However, in 2016 the church burial records were rediscovered and his grave was found. A wooden cross was installed on the grave by members if his family and a ceremony was held to commemorate the centenary of his death.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission will be installing a marker on his grave soon.
